It's apparently tied to each of the 'deadly sins' but it goes through a cycle. It's currently on Wrath, but is expected to change soon. Apparently in PF timeline, it was on Lust.
I believe sloth was supposed to be the next phase but it overslept so wrath had to take over.

Well done to all the designers, writers, artists, and one cartographer! I'm really pleased with this book. I'm waiting to do most of my extended reading when the print copy arrives, since I find that easier on the eyes, but there is a vast array of information packed in there and I have already seen many interesting tidbits.
There is so much variety just within the Pact Worlds. I'm positive I could spend years just exploring what's in here, without even needing to activate a Drift engine. It's a great jumping-off point for adventures of all kinds.

I'm sorry if this has already been asked, but could anyone share a list of the new starships in the book, with name and brief description?
Is there a starship exclusively or close related to the Skyfire Legion?

Are the archetypes all class specific? If yes, what's the archetype (and maybe a short blurb) for technomancer?

Regarding file sizes of PDFs
Uhhhh, I had this issue with my corebook pdf too, but now that I read it again. I think you need someone to make proper adaptions to your PDF export; especially in regards to compression of images. It sure looks like the PDF isn't optimized for file size. I do get that high quality images are great, but for convenience and accessibility it is generally a good idea to go with 150dpi images for smaller files. I can't really say where the extra size comes from, but possibly there's some error in the layout. I once had that issue with an indesign file that didn't use master pages, and hence the backgrounds were included in each page separately, blowing up the file size.

How useful would this book be to someone who wont be reading any of the setting flavour, and just taking things like races/items/spells/etc?
captain yesterday |
You'll get about 30 pages.
Why on earth you wouldn't at least read the setting material for possible inspiration is beyond me, but whatever.

Unfortunately, Paizo's writing style just never seemed to mesh with me inspiration wise. It can be high quality writing, but it's just not my brain's cup of tea.

There’s about 145 pages describing the pact worlds, 15 pages of starships and new starship options, 25 pages of NPC stat blocks, and 35 pages of player options.

I forgot the space ships and npcs! Thanks Porridge!

For the size of the book, it's pretty light on crunch. I usually only run games in home-brew settings, so while I'm happy to have the options it introduces, I would probably have just gotten the PDF if I wasn't already a subscriber.
There's definitely no absence of quality in the fluff, though. It's still a fun book to have, even if I'm not going to use it for much more than inspiration.

I really like the new themes. I would probably have used the Sun devotee and (whichever one focused on biomechanical augmentation) for my characters had they been available.

So far I am really liking the book but I don't understand why the new Themes are not in the Player Options section with all the other player options.
Milo v3 |
The new races ended up being alien enough or dynamic enough for me to definitely consider my purchase as a good choice in the end.
Though I did find it abit odd that the book assumes the SFRD is up.. jumping the gun abit.

What happened to having eoxians as a playable race?
Elebrians were included in AP#3, but if you're talking about an undead PC race, we did get a pseudo-undead as a playable race with the Borais.
This is as far as I think they're willing to go at this point and time. Unless the forthcoming corpsefolk are playable, which I doubt considering how they handle bone troopers and ghouls.
Being undead offers a lot of huge benefits for player characters, and overall it's a pretty significant boon to allow it alongside living counterparts. I imagine 'true' undead are still going to be an NPC only feature unless GMs allow otherwise via homebrew.

That is something better left to us fans.
I'd rather that energy be spent on a Player's guide for the Azlanti AP.

So, here's a question. I notice that the weapons section mentions an 'electrocute' critical hit effect that none of the weapons actually have, and is never mentioned again. What's up with that?

You have the option to choose the quality you want. The higher the quality the larger the file size. When you choose high quality our system extracts the best quality possible from the video or audio file. Download high quality voice file.
Probably the best way to do eoxian undead that we currently have is a borais of an elebrian. Although the borais are a true undead they are basically a ghost haunting their own not exactly dead body.

Apparently it is not a typo there were not any weapons that were supposed to use it but I guess it is there for GM's if they want to do a mod of a weapon they have rules for it now. I am kinda wondering if it was something they were working on for the next book which is their main tech book and it got into pact worlds for some reason.

Thats my guess a dev commented that it should probably have been removed as the content it went with didnt end up in the book so I can only assume we will see it in the armory.

For Starfinder Society.
Most of archetypes in this book require a character to change out their class feature for new ones beginning at level 2 (except for skyfire centurion at lvl 4), so what about characters that reached lvl 3 and up? Will they be able to retroactively apply archetypes replacing necessary class features?
Thanks.

Found a minor consistency error: the Digital Doorway spell has a descriptor of 'teleport'. The core rule book uses 'teleportation' instead of 'teleport'.
Modednerd |
loved the book but the archetypes to this game are useless and i find it lazy, either work on the classes like you did in pathfinder or make a new class, not the o see WE MADE 5 NEW ARCHETYPES FOR ALL THE CLASSES. which do nothing but belittle the classes and seem very story driven which can be done outside of class manipulation not directly changing the classes. 'if its not broken dont fix it.'

The one thing I was specifically excited about with this book was making the Eoxians playable. The whole thing still looks cool, but that's pretty disappointing.

Star Finder Pact Worlds Pdf Download
Let's do Akiton first, since it's easy to deduce cities being shown (the list of options is relatively small). We basically have Arl, Daza, and Maro, and a ton of small locales and wasteland.
If I had to guess, I would say the splash across 442-443 in the CRB is Maro, a trench city that I could easily visualize in that way. What's interesting is that there is another image of Akiton that was used in an early article (Paizo Blog, Nov-2016, which is now referenced on the Akiton page on StarfinderWiki, which I can't remember seeing in any product following this post. Specifically, this image is in question, as to its eventual product placement, its 'canon official-ness' in the setting, and where it is supposed to be illustrating. My guess is that it was an early choice for an Akiton splash image, and the final image was chosen over it. If I had to place it, it looks like a down-trodden district in Maro, an abandoned mining town (Utopia of Tivik, anyone? - lights are on, but nobody seems to be home), or any area within Daza.
The image splash on pp.48-49 in Pact Worlds is perhaps the least difficult of these last two to place: it looks like either an outlying district of Arl (with plateau in the background, perhaps), or a more populated (perhaps 'safe zone') in Daza. It's definitely not Maro.
Last specifics question, less image-oriented as map-oriented - Starfinder Society scenario, Fugitive on the Red Planet, begins in Maro, and then moves to an outlying town of Tasch. Tasch is not located on the Akiton map, but would it be located in any specific direction away from Maro? Also, would it be considered one of the 'Company Towns' given its current status in that scenario? Is it possible that undetailed 'Eeha' is actually meant to be a place-market for Tasch?
I'll take it one step at a time, so as not to completely overwhelm (if there is a better place than this for it, okay) - but consider this my ping/poke/bump for interest in questions relating to the setting and this publication. Thanks!

C'mon, kids - it's almost the holidays, when nothing gets accomplished for nearly two months. Bump, bump, bump. Let's get some things figured out and laid down for the archive.
